Setting Up Your PureWick™ Urine Collection System
Assembly Instructions
- Connect the Power: Turn the power switch OFF, plug the cord into the device, and connect it to an A/C outlet.
- Prepare the Canister: Place the collection canister in the base and firmly press down on the lid for a secure seal.
- Optional Privacy Cover: If using the privacy cover, slide it over the canister before inserting it into the base.
- Attach Pump Tubing: Attach the pump tubing (short tube) to the connector port on the main unit and the collection canister lid.
- Attach Collector Tubing: Connect the long collector tubing to the canister lid using the elbow connector.
- Connect the Catheter: Attach the other end of the collector tubing to the Female External Catheter.

Positioning the Female External Catheter
- Preparation: Perform perineal care and assess the skin’s condition for any irritation or sensitivity.
- Position the Catheter:
- Separate the legs, gluteal muscles, and labia.
- Align the soft gauze side of the catheter with the patient’s body.
- Tuck the gauze side between the gluteal muscles and labia, using the pubic bone as a reference.
- Ensure the distal end aligns with the gluteal cleft.
Removing the Catheter
- Fully separate the legs, gluteal muscles, and labia.
- Maintain suction while gently pulling the catheter outward to avoid skin irritation.
